  18. The Network OSI Operations Working Group met once during the Columbus
  19. IETF. Russ Blaesing led a discussion of the Transport MIB. Suggestions
  20. included the following:

  23.    o Post the MIB to Venera.ISI.???  under experimental.
  24.    o Post a short form MIB to the NOOP List.

  27. Tools and Echo RFCs
  28.  
  29. After minor editing the Tools RFC and Echo RFC will go to the Area
  30. Director for forwarding to the ``requirements'' track.

  32. Some questions/comments:
  33.  
  34. Host requirements specifying how the OSI hosts behave on the Internet
  35. should include the slow start from Van Jacobson.  Sue Hares expressed
  36. her concern that this would slow down the basic format.

  38. Tuba Presentation

  40. Mark Knopper gave a presentation on TUBA which raised the following
  41. issues:

  44.   1. BSD on 486 or BSDI/BSD4.4.
  45.      Has Tuba, TCP, telnet, and does new ping
  46.  
  47.   2. NCSA telnet machine.
  48.      No packet driver, Packet on driver looks at OSI packets dump them.
  49.  
  50.   3. CLNPDUMP on SUNOS.
  51.  
  52.   4. Cisco does TUBA for UDP, telnet, TFTP.

  60. A problem with Tuba is that there is no end host vendor buy in.  An EON
  61. configuration needs to be posted.  Sue Hares will make it available via
  62. anonymous ftp on merit.edu under /pub/noop/config.  She will also try to
  63. improve the daily clnp service in the Internet infrastructure by
  64. creating the following files:

  67.    o Host.db
  68.    o bis.db
  69.    o is.db
  70.

  72. The Group will clnpping all hosts or routers listed in the host.db,
  73. bis.db, and is.db.
  74.  
  75. A concern was expressed that the infrastructure was only up for demos.
  76. People will be solicited for weekly pings.  There is a catch-22 that you
  77. must have a working infrastructure in order to have people try out a
  78. Tuba Infrastructure.
